April 18-April 21: DevOps Engineer III. Developed and maintained the Python/Django application that keeps track of the entire Implementation process for our complex dedicated hosting (and other) environments; worked with users to create tools that help them do their jobs efficiently and accelerate the recognition of revenue; managing its PostgreSQL and Redis databases.

Mar 13-April 18: Linux Systems DevOps Engineer. Wrote Python and Bash scripts around internal processes; wrote Puppet configuration and tests; managed PostgreSQL databases and approved queries to a busy production DB; worked with rsyslog and Zabbix; managed all this infrastructure for maximum uptime.

May 07-Mar 13: Level II -> III Linux Systems Administrator. Helped managed hosting customers with various problems and issues regarding hosted web servers, databases, email, and other things as needed.

Wrote scripts for various data processing needs in Perl and Bash. Performed various system administration tasks involving an e-mail/groupware system, various firewalls and databases, and the backup system. In July 2006 I transitioned to be the interim "IT guy" at the organization's jungle hospital in Shell, Ecuador. This involved maintaining the Linux servers as well as Windows clients and keeping the network and the PBX running smoothly.

Brief highlights from prior jobs

Wrote code for a handheld scanner that was used in a paper mill; commercially hosted sites based on Slashcode; wrote a daemon in C for fast searching of domain names; devoped various sites in PHP to client specifications.

Most interesting projects:
ConquerAll, an in-progress Risk type game. Currently in C++ but beginning to re-write in Rust. Longer term: implementing artificial intelligence players with the purpose of simulating millions of games to see which strategy is better.
QtVideo: A small application that takes a series of photos and transforms them into a video in a unique way. Uses Qt graphics libraries.
